Our Hearts with Los Angeles Amid Devastating Wildfires

Blog Originally posted January 11, 2025

It is deeply heartbreaking to see the images of the wildfires raging in Los Angeles and to read of the destruction and loss of property and homes. Nothing is fiercer than nature when unleashed. We saw it in the Napa-Sonoma fires a few years ago, but the LA fires appear to be even fiercer, devouring parts of the city with terrifying speed.

My heart aches for the people evacuating, grabbing what they can, fleeing for their lives, and losing all that they hold dear. The powerful winds have fanned the flames, turning small sparks into devastating infernos. As fresh fires start and the existing ones worsen, they appear unstoppable, raging out of control. The fires are showing no mercy, destroying homes, shattering lives, and breaking hearts.

I pray that the winds will abate and that the fires will come under control soon. All my compassion and sympathy go out to those suffering terrible losses, living in fear, and doing everything they can to keep their loved ones safe. From those of us watching helplessly from afar as the tragic fires blaze, I send you my love and my prayers. May healing and relief come soon.

In the face of this devastation, we are reminded of the resilience and courage of communities coming together. First responders, firefighters, and volunteers have shown extraordinary bravery, working tirelessly to battle the flames and protect lives. Their efforts inspire hope amid the heartbreak.

For those who wish to help, many organizations are mobilizing resources to support affected communities. Donations to relief funds, shelters, and food banks can make a meaningful difference. Together, we can stand in solidarity with those facing unimaginable loss and ensure they know they are not alone.
